Yep, book 2 was every bit as well written & "put together " as book 1 in this series! David "Lucky" Landon is an ex Marine trying to leave behind the demons of his "highly secretive" military career. Mary-Taylor Elliott, left town several years ago, after punching her cheating fiancé in the face & leaving him at the alter, making her getaway in a stolen car, Lucky's car! Over the years Lucky & Taylor have found respite & recovery in each other's arms. They always found each other, no matter where they were. The problem with this union, Taylor is his best friend Teague's little sister! Taylor is suddenly back, to pack up & sell her parents home after their divorce. When Teague finds out about them, he is raging mad, Lucky broke the code! Stay away & don't touch my sister! Crap! Add to this mess, a job with Jackson searching for a missing stripper! Taylor takes a job at the Jolly Gent, to try & glean some information about the girl, putting her on the radar of a slimy criminal. I loved, loved, loved this book. I loved the first book from this series and Lucky was my favorite secondary character. I was so happy that he was getting his book next. I was eagerly awaiting this book and was so happy to start it.
This is a great story of 2nd chance love. This is about Lucky a local guy, who had a crazy miltary career as a Marine. He was bone tired and was ready to get out so he came home. He gets together with Jack to help with with a missing person. He goes to a strip club to ask questions from the strippers and finds out a few leads. He is back for good to help his family out with some financial troubles, but is staying at his friend Teague's house for awhile.
Taylor is Teague's little sister and is back in town for a short time to help her clean and clear out her parents house to sell it and get the profits to help her start her business in Hawaii. She runs into Lucky and all the old feelings come back out and she decides she wants to have a little fun while she is home. Lucky wants her for good and Taylor just wants to have fun. A great story about 2nd chances and also a little suspense with finding a missing stripper and making the bad guys mad.
A great read. A great series. Definately read in order. I think they are better that way. Helps you get to know all the characters and make you fall in love with them. I can't wait for the next story in this series.
I read the first book in this series at the recommendation of Robyn Carr and loved the story so much I contacted the author. That being said, I didn't think the second book, His Southern Temptation, could surpass the first. Boy, was I wrong. I still love Jackson but David "Lucky" Landon is a hero you will long remember. He isn't afraid to lay it all on the line for the woman he loves. He says the sweetest, most loving words to convince Taylor they have a chance at forever. Their love scenes will take your breath away and are so descriptive you will be reaching for your own southern gentleman to put out the fire. (Did I mention my husband was thankful for this book? No? Well,he was. Very thankful). The case the guys are working on is interesting and has a few twists and turns that will keep you guessing. One of Robin's best gifts with her writing is her ability to flesh out the secondary characters. From the first book, I was anxious to read the other stories sure to come. Teague is next and I can hardly wait until October. And Beck? Oh, yeah. Bet Robin has someone very special to tame his wicked ways. Read this book. Better yet, read the first one, too. You will be quickly addicted to the southern charm oozing from these guys. I have been reading for over four decades-Anne Stuart, Nora Roberts, Robyn Carr, Marilyn Pappano. And now, Robin Covington. Being able to follow her work for the next 40 years will be a pleasure. Check out her novella from Christmas, too.
I found Robin Covington on Twitter and as always, I check out what the books of the authors I follow have written. Sometimes I like them, sometimes I can't even get through but then on the rare occasion I find a book that I just fall in love with. His Southern Temptation is one of those. I read Ms. Covington's previous book, A Night in Southern Comfort and enjoyed it immensely. I missed her characters when I was finished, so much so that I tweeted her and asked when her next book was out. Her reply, "I just released His Southern Temptation 3 days ago." My reply after rushing to to purchase it. "Just bought it thanks." From page one to the very end I was enraptured. I love Lucky's vulnerability, his honesty, his way of loving Taylor, the girl of his dreams (literally). My heart swells now thinking of some of the quotes from his character. I have never read a book where I was enthralled by the sexiness, intrigued by the mystery and swept completely away - with tears..and I never cry while reading books - by the love exhibited by Lucky.
Ms. Covington is an incredible storyteller! If you want a book that brings you into the world of a small town that hold everything dear to a veteran wanting to move past his life as a soldier and finding his solace in the woman he's carried with him, not only in his mind, but in his heart as well, then read His Southern Temptation.
